"Dr. Lydia" and her retired Army chaplain, Dr. R. Knox Herndon, spent over 20 years as a military couple in the Cold War Army, being in such places as West Berlin in 1977-1980 when Russia was invading Afghanistan east of Berlin and the Iranian Revolution and American hostage situation was going on west of Berlin.  "Dr. Lydia" got her Ph.D in education in 1994 on "Georgia's core values" and incorporated her husband's love of WWII history in the Liberty Tree's American Values Traveling Museum.
