Meet the Training of Trainers Class of 2013
The week of February 25, an energized group of life-long character educators came from the far corners of North America to gather in the CEP offices in Washington DC for a deep-dive study of the unique CEP 11 Principles delivery process as well as an interactive focus on CEP’s mission, vision and the importance of quality connections through
partnerships. In attendance were Phil Fusco from NY State, Janet Vinciguerra, from Cleveland, Ohio, Laura Stahoski from southern CA, Pam Mitchell from the Dallas, Texas area, Wayne Goldthorp from outside of Montreal, ViJay Manuel from British Columbia and Vanessa Camilleri from the District of Columbia. These participants brought varied expertise to the table including SEL and assessment research, grass roots community development, curriculum development, National School of Character and State School of Character leadership, a superintendent of a school district and multi-year experience in the business world. Resumes included teachers, principals, counselors, student support, and high- level administration.
This rich and interactive networking exchange was not only educational, but motivating as we all learned of more and more possibilities in this important field of character education to advance this important work. Mark Hyatt, CEP President says, “The energy and enthusiasm at CEPs recent TOT workshop was contagious! Attendees told me they thoroughly enjoyed not only the presentations by Barbara Luther and Dr Russ Sojourner, but surrounding themselves with a group of likeminded and passionate educators. These colleagues are now their network who can help them improve their abilities to help young people build character inside and outside the classroom.”
Although no new training of trainers sessions are scheduled at this time, please contact Barbara Luther, CEP’s Director of Professional Development if you would wish to have more information about future trainings. Please submit your resume with your inquiry.
11 Principles Training Held in Louisiana
In mid- February, CEP trainers, Phil Catania and CEP trainer apprentice, Kimberly Jones, were in Shreveport, Louisiana where 40 engaged Intervention Specialists and Guidance Counselors from Caddo Parish studied implementation of CEP’s 11 Principles for two full days. Each participant received an Eleven Principles Sourcebook for continued reference and study after the training was completed.
A special thanks to Dr. Barzanna White, District Psychologist and Dr. Gerald Dawkins, Superintendent of Caddo Parish School Board as well as to The 4-H Ag Center at Louisiana State University for their understanding and generosity in making this training possible. Dr. White stated, “ I am so pleased with this training. Our folks learned a lot and got inspired to help schools move forward.”
