The Ministry of Education’s Co-Curricular Activities office and Pasir Ris Primary School in Singapore were hosts to secondary and primary educators in April as Barbara Luther, Associate Director of Professional Development, facilitated sessions in Principle 11’s Evaluation Toolkit there. Educators eagerly absorbed the eight step overview provided in each of the three interactive sessions. Emphasis focused on the parameters of an ongoing, effective evaluation infrastructure so that educators could further enhance and measure their own school’s work. One hundred fifty dedicated educators identified their own evaluation needs and priorities with hands-on activities and dialogue specifically focusing on each school’s unique character development initiative. Delisa Ng, Head of Department, found her session to be “highly reflective and relevant to my school.” Jonathan Tay, Character Development Coordinator stated, “These tools and strategies will definitely help us mold our goals and programmes.” Guat Hoon Tan, Vice Principal of Pasir Ris Primary noted that she was infected by the enthusiasm and commitment present saying, “the written and oral feedback from the participants after the sessions has definitely shown valuable insights that will allow us to springboard more thoughts and actions in our own journey in character development.”
