Assessment

Individual Assessments
Assessments listed in this category are primarily used to assess attitudes and skills of individuals. The assessments may pertain to attitudes, behaviors and/or skills. They do not reflect an institutional or organizational culture/climate. Some of these assessments are student/individual self-report, and others are completed by an adult (teacher) to assess the individual (student) and their behavior. Some of the assessments can be used as pre- and post-tests to ascertain the impact of a program/curriculum.

Teacher Assessments
These assessments are considered to be of value to the individual teacher to gauge their attitudes about their class, their own emotional intelligence, and their ability to teach character education.  Also included are assessments completed by others reporting on their perceptions of the teachers’ social emotional connections with students.  Many of these assessments can be viewed as staff development tools to create awareness and perceived competency as well as indicators for progress as on-going assessments. Broadly speaking, an assessment related to an adult who is involved in educating children (teacher/coach) and reports on their attitudes, social emotional ability and competency will be listed here.

School Assessments
These assessments are used to measure the culture and/or climate of a school. These assessments  will include elements that focus on measuring the social-emotional and character development aspects present in the school.   The assessments are not designed to be a measure of individuals, but rather reflect the school as an organization.  The surveys generally include all stakeholders in the evaluation and evaluation process.
