People make mistakes and as long as they learn from them and choose to behave better next time, most bad acts are forgivable. Jerry Sandusky's alleged transgressions are not forgivable. This one was too serious.
I think that anyone who saw this abuse happening had an obligation to go to the proper (legal) authorities and not just hope that the chain of command at the university would eventually report it. Especially because of the prestige this school once enjoyed. Now many people have lost their jobs and the school and its famed leader have lost their reputations.
It's really a tragedy that one person has stolen chidren's innocence, cost an entire university its credibility, and ruined people's lives. It's truly amazing what one person's actions can do. Just rememeber that the same is true the other way around.
When one person does something fantastically wonderful, it can have an equal and opposite effect. Hopefully Penn State commits to going above and beyond to redeem itself through community service, service learning opportunities, and extensive support for those trying to do the right thing.

I think that one bad act doesn’t necessarily make a person bad.
