Panel Sets Record with 15 NSOC Winners

13 Schools and 2 Districts—A Record!

Character Education Partnership’s Blue Ribbon Panel broke precedent this year by naming 13 schools and 2 districts as the 2010 National Schools of Character winners. This is the first time in CEP’s history to give more than 11 awards in one year and to give the award to more than one district. Eleven states are represented in the winning group. The panel selected the winners based on their implementation of CEP’s Eleven Principles of Effective Character Education.

CEP will honor the winners at an awards ceremony at the National Forum on Character Education on Friday, October 29 in San Francisco. In addition, CEP will showcase the winners’ stories in its annual NSOC publication and on its website. Winners become ambassadors of effective character education and provide professional development sessions back at their home sites. CEP will give each winner a $3,000 grant to support its outreach efforts. See the list of winners.
