Assessment: Three categories of assessment instruments are provided:
- Individual Assessment: Assessments listed in this category are primarily used to assess attitudes and skills of individuals.
- Teacher Assessment: These assessments are considered to be of value to the individual teacher to gauge their attitudes about their class, their own emotional intelligence, and their ability to teach character education. Also included are assessments completed by others reporting on their perceptions of the teachers’ social emotional connections with students.
- School Assessment: These assessments are used to measure the culture and/or climate of a school.
What States Are Doing: Provides up-to-date information for those interested in finding out what lawmakers are doing to encourage character education at the state level.
Character Education Resource for Teachers: An Online Guide: The Character Education Partnership and Civic Education Technology Assistance Center (CETAC) has published an extensive online resource for educators. This searchable site includes lesson plans, research findings, information on federal guidelines, plus a wealth of other resources. This resource has been created with educators who have been recipients of the federal government’s grants in character education.
