Application Process
The 2012 SSOC/NSOC Application is an online process that is currently closed. Applications had to be submitted by December 1, 2011 in order to be reviewed and considered for possible recognition in 2012. State Schools of Character were selected in January. National Finalists were announced by March 1 and asked to submit additional supporting evidence online. The 2012 National Schools of Character will be anounced in early May. See the full timeline of the application process for more information.

This year, applicants were asked to enter:

  • Basic information about their school or district
  • Narrative and portfolio evidence of how they are implementing each of the 11 Principles
  • Average scores from their stakeholder group’s 11 Principles self-assessment
