Workshops or Professional Development
Should you decide to design and implement a professional development session for other educators, you may want to do the following:
- Invite educators from your district or from in or outside your state.
- Help defray the cost of the training by charging for your events.
- Invite people to participate in the training in teams.
- Have teams assess themselves and work on an action plan as part of the session.
- Use CEP’s Sourcebook as a resource during the training as needed. (See discounted Sourcebook Order Form.)
- Announce your planned staff development training at the Forum or on CEP’s Facebook Page, if you want people from outside your district to attend. You could also announce it via other social media.
- Partner with a collaborating organization, such as a business, civic organization, or college to help defray costs.
- Collect evaluation forms from participants. Use the Sample Evaluation Form if needed.
Presenting at Conferences
CEP encourages you to present at local workshops and conferences, as feasible. We encourage you to apply to present at national conferences as well. CEP may contact you with suggestions for places to present. Contact us if you need materials to use in your presentations.
CEP also encourages you to be active in CEP’s future National Forums on Character Education. We encourage you to attend the Forum each year and to apply to be presenters at future Forums. The Call for Proposals will be available on the CEP website in January and is due in March. Many NSOC go on to become Forum presenters after their award year and we encourage you to stay connected to CEP in this way.
