Ross Elementary School
St. Louis, Missouri
Parkway School District

Our Ross mission statement is the foundation of who we are: Ross students are empowered to be confident, curious, creative, and collaborative problem-solvers. They exhibit character, celebrate diversity, and honor individuality in a safe and nurturing learning environment. We continuously seek ways to improve and meet the needs of the whole child. We have been on this journey for over ten years and were honored to be named a state school of character last year.

Our school is comprised of over 450 students from more than 25 countries. Having students from five different continents strengthens our community as we celebrate our diversity. Because of the ever-changing enrollment in our school, we are committed to establishing a sense of belonging from the welcoming first day until we say farewell. Our staff embraces a commitment to all as we each play a role in fostering a nurturing climate.

Our goal is to build a positive and safe environment where children and staff can take risks, challenge themselves, and problem solve in an ever-changing world. Character Education at Ross is not a program for everyone to follow but is a way of doing. It is who we are. The core Ross Guiding Lights (honesty, perseverance, responsibility, respect, compassion) penetrate the culture our school.

Testimonials

Teacher collaboration occurs naturally and helps meet the needs of all students. Even in difficult times our staff has rallied in support of each other.
- Marni Lang, Third Grade

Even though I am not directly employed by Ross Elementary, they always include and treat the lunch room staff as part of the Ross School Family.
- Linda Ward, Dietary Aid

I love Ross School because we always respect each other. It never matters what they look like. All that matters is their actions and how they use them. We treat everyone like family.
- Sawyer, Third Grader

I am very happy to live in a community and participate with such a good school. My taxes are well spent.
- Richard Mock, OASIS Tutor
