Discovery Ridge Elementary opened in August 2010, and from its inception we have been committed to using CEP’s 11 Principles as our frame for intentional decision-making. Relationships and the development of a caring community are at the heart of our work each day. We seamlessly integrate both CHARACTERplus Caring School Community and Positive Behavior Support to ensure that our ethical values and performance values are fully embedded in all aspects of daily life. Our core values of respect, responsibility and caring were selected by our entire school community including parents, students, and staff. These values serve as core ethical outcomes to ensure that we are developing citizens who “do the right thing because it is the right thing to do.”

Our school community’s dedication to the 11 Principles has yielded outstanding results. Academic performance of our students has been among the highest in the region. Student discipline referrals are far lower than the national norms of PBIS schools. Staff and student autonomy is measured as among the highest in the nation. Parent involvement and support is strong. Discovery Ridge has received a 2012 CEP Promising Practice recognition and has been named a 2012 St. Louis Rams Character Fitness Model School. We thank and owe so much to CHARACTERplus and Positive Behavior Support as they have enabled us to lay a strong foundation for generations of Star students and families to come.
