Our community has changed over the years but the theme of overall caring compassion for others has remained consistent. When a student or family is in need of any support our staff takes a comprehensive approach to helping. Our CE initiative began in 2003. We initially had to secure a majority of our staff as interested and committed to taking on this new CE learning. The first few years the core team spent time learning about CE and laying the primary foundation for the next few years. Time for Professional Development is always an issue when rolling out a new initiative, especially when the district expects other initiatives to be implemented as well. Building administration and counselors applied to be part of the CHARACTERplus training in 2008-2009. In conjunction, the administrators and counselors committed monthly staff meeting time to begin professional development for the entire staff.
