Character Camp/Character Champs
Branson Jr. High has implemented a day filled with unique practices that give students the opportunity to learn character and to live character. The goal was to design an experience that was relevant, age-appropriate, and memorable. With this in mind, they designed two activities involving the entire student community that take place simultaneously during one school day.  1) Character Camp – The goal for Character Camp was to engage seventh grade students (and teachers) in activities that are fun, surprising, challenging and promote good character. Selected 8th grade students facilitated the activities.  Each seventh grader participated in camp with their homeroom, to create a sense of community.  2) Character Champs provides students with the opportunity to live character. Branson partnered with several local schools, businesses and organizations that were in need of some basic restorations.  Students and teachers were bussed into the community, and worked side-by-side completing projects for those less privileged. Some students run mini character camps for nearby smaller schools. There is no reward for their service; only a sense of accomplishment, and the satisfaction of knowing that you have helped others in need.
