Lego Awards
The Lego Award model begins with parents being attuned to behaviors that personify character. Each month our character education newsletter highlights a particular trait and lists examples of how that trait might take shape at home or in the community at large. When a parent is ready to recognize an act of character, they fill out a small recognition slip. Every month we turn the parents’ completed character recognition Lego slips into an actual Lego piece. On a monthly basis all of the Lego pieces are collectively joined to build a large Lego sculpture by one of our dads. Once completed, these sculptures are on display in our school lobby and ultimately exhibited in a trophy case! The symbolism of joining together all of the individual acts of character to create a dynamic sculpture of community caring is easy for all to recognize.
