Driving Away Hunger
The Pinellas County Transportation Department transports in excess of 40,000 students twice a day. On December 10, 2008 they encouraged the students to be “Students of Character” and  show how much they Cared and what contributing Citizens they were by bringing one can of food and giving it to their School Bus Driver. Bus drivers collected more than 5000 cans of food that were donated to H.E.A.T. (Homeless Education Assistance Team). The department is proud of the fact the students realize it takes everyone to support a community in need during difficult times.
