PEACE IN/PEACE OUT Program
The PEACE IN – PEACE OUT program is a proactive approach to character development.  The importance of presenting the topic on relational aggression in the girl’s world is to teach tolerance and reduce the number of bullying and/or relational aggressive behaviors among the girls to further develop a culture of good character in our school.  All third and fourth grade girls at Robinson Elementary School are given the opportunity to attend a mini workshop to address bullying concerns in the girl’s world.  The title of this workshop PEACE IN – PEACE OUT helps to define the meaning of developing an emotional wellness of the individual girl that increases pro-social behaviors, connections with others, personal skills and strengths, and competence in girls.   Guided discussions on topics such as: friendship, trusting self and others, building confidence, relational aggression, how to stop relational aggression, conflict resolution techniques, and forgiveness are presented to promote girls’ critical thinking about their behaviors and choices. When the girls act on these good character traits they can form caring relationships with others in the school community. Staff at Robinson believe that if they, as a caring school community, continue to grow PEACE IN the children’s hearts, then they can reap the rewards of PEACE flowing OUT.
