Multi-Age Families
Multi-age families consist of approximately 10-12 students representing the 423 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Each family is paired with a certified staff member. Multi-age families meet once a month. During each meeting, families are engaged in unity builders, service learning projects, and activities focused on character development. This family stays the same through a child's entire experience at Ross School. The purpose of multi-age is to foster meaningful and lasting student-to-student and student-to-teacher relationships. The cross-aged grouping allows older students to develop their leadership and nurturing skills. In turn, the younger students grow in confidence when interacting with older peers. Since multi-age is a time away from grade level peers, it provides an opportunity for students who wouldn’t normally take risks a chance to act as a leader.  Furthermore, students will develop as leaders, who take initiative, solve problems, work as a team, and demonstrate their abilities while helping others.
