A Family Night of Shared Fun
“Without a sense of caring, there can be no sense of community, " says Anthony D’Angelo, a member of the Sappingtom community. At Sappington Elementary School, the Sappington Parent Teacher Group (SPTG) sponsors Grant’s Farm Night, an off-campus, school-wide function to kick-off the school year. SPTG has reorganized the event to include activity booths and a DJ. The new structure promotes positive interaction and genuine engagement. Grant’s Farm, a Sappington neighbor and St. Louis family attraction, generously donates use of its facilities to the school for this private event. Bringing members of the community together to share this special evening creates a responsible, respectful and caring environment. The new event structure attracts a much larger attendance than in years past, but the smiles on the faces of Sappington students convey the event’s true success. Everyone gets along, has fun and feels a part of a caring community.
