"Wisdom with Character" Bee
Springview Elementary loves “Character Ed!” This very full of character, bee puppet, helps teachers combine “Project Wisdom” and “Bee Your Best” programs.  The “Bee Your Best” program is based on the core character values adopted by Miami-Dade County Public Schools since 1995. The program uses scripts which can be followed along with mini posters, actual class lessons, letters to parents, student activity booklets, bee banners, bee buddies, bee patrols, and reflection journals. Feedback on journals is given by their teachers, on an individual basis. Reflection is critical in the development of character. Students begin their morning with a “Project Wisdom”  quote announced by a student anchor, always signing off by letting the school know that good character is up to them and only each individual can make it a good day – or not. Springview students have acquired positive skills, attitudes, and behaviors as a result of a deliberate focus on character education. Success has been measured by quantitative data reflecting increased attendance of 96.21% in 2007-2008 to 98.07% in 2008-2009. A decrease in outdoor and indoor suspension and testimonials from parents, students and members of the community is positive evidence.
