Together We Make a Difference
This practice developed after staff watched a short video called “The Teddy Stoddard Story.” It reminded us of the ways we make a difference in children’s lives daily and the positive effects of praise. Principals recognized staff and then used the “paying it forward” approach to generate future positive actions. Class meetings and home-side activities helped students think about the people that are important to them. After reflection during class meetings, students carefully thought about who should receive their ribbon and presented them to other staff, students, physicians, postal employees, neighbors, and friends. The Together, We Make A Difference program definitely made a positive impact on the Uthoff Valley Elementary School community.
