ACES Science Program Fosters Commitment to Eco-Stewardship
ACES Eco-Literacy Science Program fosters environmental awareness that results in students becoming active and responsible stewards of the natural world. Students are instilled with a sense of awe and wonder for our world as they learn how to protect and become caring ambassadors for their environment. Connections are made between students’ actions and the health of our planet across the curriculum and through a variety of experiences. Interactive, hands-on lessons, performances, field trips and cross-grade mentoring highlight green initiatives such as; energy conservation, efficiency, sustainability, renewable energy, healthy food, water and creating green spaces. The program provides interactive lessons for all grades using a variety of modalities to encourage environmental awareness and positive action.Students investigate the endangered Florida scrub and its endemic species, fossil hunt on the Peace River, and study mangroves on Sanibel Island while learning the importance of preservation.
