Character Report Card
The character report card is a proactive effort to encourage and enable all students to appreciate and reflect upon the core values of character education by means of discovering those values in characters of literature, history, etc. Through this discovery, students will better understand what it takes to consistently display good character. The character report card highlights targeted character traits Babler Elementary strives to instill in students at all grade levels. Several versions of the report card exist so that the format mirrors the grading system found on a student’s actual report card. Students gain a better understanding of the grades they receive on their own report card because they are going through the same process their teacher goes through when they determine the character’s grades. Teachers begin using the report card during a class meeting setting and then through deliberate conversation and instruction, the students are able to complete a report card on a character showing understanding of the core values we embrace and expect at Babler.
