Role Model Ruler
This year Bayless Intermediate School is getting staff more involved with Character Education with each other. We introduced Role Model Ruler this past year. In looking for something positive to use with our staff and recognize each other for showing positive character traits we chose this practice. We have dedicated a bulletin board to be our Role Model Ruler board. Surrounding this bulletin board are pictures of our staff's faces on cartoon bodies. Each month our staff votes on another staff member who is showing positive character traits to be that month's Role Model Ruler. The staff member's picture is then put in the center of the board and a member from our character education team interviews the staff member chosen. These questions range from individual likes and dislikes to questions regarding character traits. Their responses are put on the board for the rest of the school to see. Some of the student’s responses are also posted along with the teachers' responses. This practice has had a positive impact on the school as a whole, bringing our staff together, and making them realize that we do value people who are doing the right thing and showing positive character traits.
