Student Goal-Setting Conferences
Blades Elementary's third, fourth, and fifth graders participate in Goal Setting Conferences during the fall and spring of each school year. This participation allows students to build the awareness of their own strengths, and creates a sense of ownership over the role each student plays at Blades Elementary. The conferences celebrate the accomplishments of each student, and set new goals in student behaviors, work habits, communication arts, and mathematics. The school also makes sure to provide supports and resources for students. The goals were shared with parents at the parent-teacher conferences in October. Starting from the 2009-2010 school year, the adminstrators meet with each student once a month to review their growth. Students are required to bring artifacts to those follow-up conferences to provide the evidence of the things they have been doing to support their individual goal development.
