Braddock's Boutique
Braddock Elementary is excited about our newest outreach to the community: Braddock’s clothing boutique, which is located right inside the school. The primary goal of the boutique is to provide our neediest families with appropriate clothing. It is open only to the families of Braddock students and employees, and is run by the Helping Hands Committee, (Manos que Ayuden in Spanish), a committee comprised of school staff and parents of the school. The boutique operates much like a store. There are rules and regulations that govern how families can participate, and they were developed and are enforced by the parent-comprised management team. All members are parents with limited or no English who have not previously held jobs in the workforce. All clothing and household items in Braddock’s Boutique are donated by families, school employees and community members. The boutique serves as an intermediary in getting parents into the school, in the hope that they will feel more comfortable being a part of the school community. It is opening doors for women who may not have otherwise had the opportunity, all certainly contributing to a positive impact on their children’s lives.
