Character Education Kick-off
Beginning in 2000, Caddo Parish schools have promoted good character practices in all of its schools. As a district, one school is selected per year to host the annual Character Education Kick-off. The school is selected based on their active implementation of character education throughout the year. The Kick-off is an interactive, experiential program where students and staff work together to produce songs, dance, skits, and other renditions highlighting good character. Students are encouraged throughout the fall of the year to be cognizant of others who exhibit good character traits. The staff are also encouraged to do the same. Prior to the Kick-off, students are asked to vote on the teachers who best exemplify the pillars of character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, compassion, and citizenship. The teachers do the same for the students. During the Character Education Kick-off, six students and six faculty members are awarded trophies to highlight their exemplary modeling of the character trait.
