PASS Night (Pride After School Social)
Five times during the year, parents are invited to attend a PASS night. On these evenings students stay after school and engage in team building activities. They also make dinner for their parents. The parents come and enjoy dinner as a community with their students and teachers. Then the parents attend a parenting workshop on a given topic, closely tied in with the character education topics covered in school. Some of the topics we have covered in the past include handling conflicts, helping your child be successful in school, promoting good choices at home, etc. These nights have not only been a great deal of fun for the students but they have also proven to be very informative to parents. These PASS nights have also helped promote parent involvement in our school and programs. Our families in the past have been very uninvolved in their child's education. Once they came to our school and started participating in these PASS nights, we have seen parents communicating more with their child's teachers as well as coming into school to volunteer and be a part of their child's school life. These nights have promoted good character.
