Carpe Diem's Family Day
A character education partnership, formed by Carpe Diem Group of Childcares and Character Building Institute, held a “Family Day Initiative”, during the weekend at Jurong Bird Park, Singapore. Through this event, we engaged partners in the character building process and provided a service-learning initiative for over 300 families. With support of kind sponsorship and volunteers from small businesses and government organizations, we engaging families from Carpe Diem Group, as “partners” in our character building efforts. A “character building area” was formed, with activity booths focused on inculcating good values for their preschool children. Character building activities were complementary, and included: 1) creative drawing contests, puzzle booth, and bookmark-making booth, focusing on family values (My StoryHouse Pte Ltd, Character Building Institute and volunteers). 2) Singapore Kindness Movement (SKM) mascot “Singa”, encouraging the theme: “KINDNESS, starting from home”, with photo taking and distribution of gifts and prizes. 3) Art and craft for the family – “family-bonding-time activities” (Art Zone Pte Ltd). Our heartfelt thanks extend to businesses and organizations that collectively reached out to parents at the grassroot’s level, emphasizing the importance to make a positive difference to the community by starting from within the “homes”.
