W.E.B. Leaders
WEB stands for, “Where Everyone Belongs”. Students are originally nominated by teachers based on behavior, attitude toward work and peers and helpfulness in classroom activities. These students are trained in leading small group team-building and cooperative activities. The activities they lead promote the development of a new school identity, cohesiveness, cooperation and teamwork among new students. The cross grade level experience demonstrates that all students can work together to achieve a common goal. Incoming students are encouraged to ask their older peers for assistance, and older students grow personally from mentoring the younger students. Students from various ethnic and socioeconomic categories successfully work together to accomplish a positive transition from elementary school to middle school. All of this merges into a safe and caring learning environment where students know they can ask for help and expect to receive it.
