Looking Back on Learning
At the end of each day of school, students self-reflect with a form called LBL (Looking Back on Learning)  on their character throughout the day. The main areas included in the form are their personal behavior based on the rules written as a class, their accountability for homework assigned, and their display of respect for peers and teachers in class. The form is turned in before leaving each day, so that the teacher can read it, and there is space to respond or ask questions of the student. On Friday, the student takes the LBL home to be shared with parents who have a place to respond with comments and questions. It is to be signed and returned the following Monday. LBLs returned on time earn students a TAS – a ticket saying Totally Awesome Student which can be saved and later exchanged for privileges or rewards. This self-reflection process has helped fourth graders learn and develop responsibility, and the communication between home and school has also been fostered.
