Parent Teacher Study Group (PTSG)
Ho`ala School holds, twice a year, Parent/Teacher Study Groups for the school and local community. The purpose of these sessions is to provide families with the skills they need to work together to create and/or restore family harmony and enhance cooperation. We teach teachers and family members the skills they need to set up and maintain a smooth-running classroom or family. Parents and Teachers learn how to organize the family/classroom, distribute family/student work, and elicit cooperation of all members. Participants learn how to communicate respectfully and effectively. Participants learn how to set agreements and routines as a group and what to do if a member fails to follow the agreed-upon rules. All members, regardless of age, learn to contribute to the well-being of the class or family. In turn, all are given a voice and have input into classroom and family decisions.
