Character Ed Tea Parties
At Imagine Charter School at Weston, the Character Education Task Force organizes at least two tea parties a year to provide character development ideas and strategies to other staff members. It's a great way for teachers to share what they are doing in their classrooms to promote good character in their students, while having tea and dessert. Also providing a pleasant atmosphere where teachers would be more receptive to new ideas seemed like a great way to motivate teachers to try out these strategies. Tea Parties have positively contributed to the enrichment of the staff concerning character education issues. As a byproduct, the school has seen how developing character has become a high priority, and much improvement both in school climate and student behavior is evident. The school community is continually finding strategies and ideas to share at the tea parties. Exit surveys are provided at the conclusion of the tea to measure effectiveness and interest. The data has shown that the majority of the teachers feel the information shared at tea parties are very helpful.
