School-Wide Buddy Day
Lincoln Elementary School celebrates a cross-age buddy program as a school-wide culminating event. The event is called "Buddy Day," and the day is full of various activities in which the buddies work together and have fun. The activities range from bounce houses to computer activities. The school's character council made up of students, character team made up of staff members, and parents plan the entire day. The event includes activities such as creating a buddy memory book, a picnic lunch, face painting, karaoke, outdoor PE fun, bounce houses and bounce slide.  Students participate in these activities with the buddy class with whom they have worked all year. Buddy Day involves the entire student body, all of our staff and approximately 30 parent volunteers. This practice of having cross-aged buddies allows the students to experience positive social relationships and discover more about themselves as learners. The experience provides older students with a sense of caring, competence and value, while the younger students enjoy the attention from the older students.
