Just Poppin' In to Welcome You
Lincoln Elementary School has approximately 70% new students. In an effort to establish relationships with students and their families, the school planned a neighborhood night named “Just Poppin’ In to Welcome You”. The neighborhood night is an event in which the school staff visits families in their neighborhoods to welcome them to a new school year. This year the school brought all of the kids bags of popcorn. This event is the first of many relationship-building activities hosted throughout the school year. This planning process involved the character education team, a group of parents, and several staff members. The teams were armed with a map of their designated area, popcorn and a smile, and subsequently walked through the neighborhoods welcoming the families to Lincoln Elementary. This activity reached about 250 of the students and their families.
