"Lighting the way to good character"
In order to beautify the school, the staff collaborated with parents, students and extended family members, to complete the project. Various “lamp posts” and signs were painted on corners of hallways and over specified doorways throughout the building. Each lamp post has a shining light, to signify that good character will “light the way” to a better future. Street signs are hanging from each lamp post, to totally immerse the students in the core values taught on a daily basis. All signs were based upon the *Community of Caring" values the school strongly believes in: Family, Caring, Respect, Responsibility and Trust. “Polite Place” is just an example of one of the names selected to remind students to take pride in their beliefs and use the power of their actions to reveal their inner character. Over the course of approximately 6 months, numerous meetings were held with 17 families, and faculty & staff members to decide how to execute the painting project idea. All the names for the street signs were brainstormed and voted on by the committee. In order to raise funds for the supplies needed, there was a fundraiser held.
