Pinellas County Schools Character Camp
Character Camp, Pinellas County Schools’ two-day professional development character immersion, is a highly popular perennial summer conference which highlights new and creative practices in character education. The Camp began the summer of 2000 as a forum to share best, proactive approaches to promoting Commitment to Character (C2C), the school district's character education initiative. The workshop day also includes keynote speakers, and focuses on successful existing C2C strategies. Over the years, Pinellas County School educators, support personnel, local colleges and the community have contributed to the sustainability of this popular and motivating attraction. Local media assist to emcee, photograph and catalog the popular Camp’s history. As 2007 Character Education Partnership’s National Schools of Character district award winner, Pinellas County Schools showcased Character Camp as a national outreach to schools and community. Character Camp highlights and showcase best practices from the schools in the district, aligning with Character Education Partnership’s 11 Principles of Quality Character Education, Commitment to Character and Florida’s Sunshine State Standards.
