High School/Elementary Core Values Lunch Day
Through a leadership seminar in January, a team of 33 high school students met to discuss ways they could better integrate the six core values which are displayed at Rawlins County Jr. Sr. High School. The team developed the idea to make the values a more integral part of the school experience by mentoring the elementary students on the importance of modeling the values. In March, the High School Core Values Leadership Team scheduled Core Values Lunch Dates with the elementary school. Teams of high school students signed up to go to each elementary classroom to talk about the six core values and why they are important as well as what the high school is doing to implement these core values. The students talked about Respect, Integrity, Honesty, Responsibility, Self-discipline, and Courage. The teams had the elementary students share their experiences, and then they introduced a Core Values Coloring Contest to each class. The teams ate lunch with the elementary students and then went to recess. This was a great start for high school students to interact more with elementary students and to be able to start mentoring them on the importance of the core values.
