Capturing the Values for Rockwood School District
The Rockwood Board of Education has adopted four core value statements, based on Character Education Partnership's 11 Principles of Effective Character Education. These statements, along with the district's vision and mission statements, guide the work of the entire district. The committee, comprised of teachers, parents, and district administrators, reviewed CEP’s 11 Principles and condensed the ideas into four statements with detailed descriptors. The district’s core value statements are to: 1. Promote and model ethical values and good character as the foundation of performance. 2. Build a safe and caring school community. 3. Provide a meaningful and challenging academic curriculum that connects all students to learning and honors their differences. 4. Engage all stakeholders in shared responsibility for learning, character and climate. Those core value statements have become operational as each school develops and implements school climate goals.
