Character Council: Fostering Shared Leadership!
Salam School uses a comprehensive and intentional approach to prepare students for challenges and opportunities that define positive behavior. The school's Character Council is an amazing student leadership program, which fosters shared moral leadership and a common striving for moral excellence among all stakeholders. This leadership program fosters optimum opportunities and evolves leaders who motivate their peers. Student-directed community service projects provide year-round opportunities for moral action, and followed with written reflection assignments reinforce core values. The Character Council is mentored by the Salam School Character Education Committee comprised of members from the administration, staff and the Guidance Counselor. The Council representatives help their Advisory team to internalize the core ethical values in the Salam Honor Code, namely respect, responsibility, integrity and compassion. They also focus on the monthly virtue by planning and conducting morning Assembly presentations, promoting the internalization of supporting values as components of a holistic ethical belief system.
