The Importance of Reinforcing Positive Messages During Times of Crisis
Recently Juarez, the city where Secundaria Bilingüe Tec de Monterrey is located, has been living one of the worst crises of its history due to economic problems and violence that affect tranquility. The emotional balance of those who live here has been severely affected. The principals of jr. high school, high school, bachelor, and graduate level education identified the urgent need to reinforce values among the staff, in order to encourage their own families, students and their parents. To achieve this, several courses have been implemented concerning values and self-esteem building. The courses' topics were chosen to help effectively deal with the difficult reality which surrounds the community. The jr. high school principal also initiated three conferences about values, for all the staff. These conferences focused on love; the love for all the people as the most important base to achieve realization and promote the recovery of equilibrium. The message was positively received by most of the staff, who contributed with specific examples that could be used in the daily duties to improve attitude against adversity.
