Peer Power, Learning Life’s Lessons (P2L3)
Peer Power, Learning Life’s Lessons (P2L3) is a comprehensive, integrated approach that intrinsically builds good character in students. This proactive character development approach teaches, models and practices the essential skills needed in life. A weekly schoolwide routine comprises this program. The routine introduces character through: the school developed puppet show on closed circuit TV, classroom meeting with mini-lesson, buddy mentoring session across grade levels, and student reflection in individual character journals to wrap up the week. Intermediate students have a tool kit that includes weekly talking points to start conversations with their primary buddies. Peer discussion enables students to more deeply understand character concepts. Students apply P2L3 lessons in academics by being responsible for their own behaviors, using time wisely and understanding their attitude. Relationship and problem solving strategies are developed and used throughout the school day and carried into the home.
