"Soaring to Success" Motivational Activities
Learning communities provide staff with data and instructional strategies to empower all students to successfully master PA Standards, guaranteeing students a challenging academic path integrated with character education. To challenge students to do their best on state assessments, teachers and students created an engaging and motivational project with techniques to encourage students to take responsibility in preparation for the state assessments. The activities involve a brainstorming lesson which reinforces all strategies for doing one’s best to be successful on the reading and mathematics state assessments. Students also discuss healthy strategies for being well-nourished and well-rested, to have energy and stamina. Students document the strategies they need individually to help them become proficient and advanced. They make “Soaring to Success” posters, including their goals and signatures. Students also participate in physical activities which got their bodies and brains awake and ready to soar!
