Character Culture Immersion (CCI)
Wells has made a collective commitment to involve the entire campus on focused study of each month’s character trait. Each day begins with a broadcast of the school bulletin followed by “Words of Wisdom,” which are chosen to correspond to that month’s trait. On the first Wednesday of each month, the daily "Words of Wisdom" is followed by a school-wide video that introduces the month’s character trait. Throughout the remainder of the day, students are immersed in exploring the month’s character trait in all classes: academic, physical education, and electives. In support of teacher engagement, the Culture Committee disseminates a menu of subject-specific suggestions for age-appropriate lessons, plus additional resources to aid teachers, students, and counselors. Teachers adapt these ideas to address the maturity level, learning styles, and unique dynamics of their students. To unite the students and staff in further learning experiences, the school designs school-wide activities, competitions and assemblies to extend the character lesson throughout the month. The comprehensive nature of this program reflects the shared commitment to building a solid foundation based on core ethical values.
