W.O.W.
At Antonia Middle School, students and staff celebrate successes and accomplishments twice a month or simply say “thank you” by writing a “W.O.W.” to someone in our building. This can include custodians, lunchroom workers, bus drivers, teachers, students, aides, secretaries, and administrators. These papers are distributed bi-monthly throughout advisory classes. Students are encouraged to write a “W.O.W.” and turn it in to the advisory teacher. The teacher puts them in an envelope and sends it to the office, where a team goes through each “W.O.W.” to check for appropriateness. The team addresses the outside with the recipient's name and advisory teacher. They are placed in the advisory teacher’s mailbox and the teacher distributes them to the students and staff the next day. We also have a “W.O.W.” box in the office where students can put slips in anytime. “W.O.W.” stands for Wonderful, Outstanding, Way to go! And when everyone is involved, consistency and modeling of positive behavior is displayed for all.
