Unique Week - "Great Minds Think Differently"
"Unique Week" is designed to bring Audubon School closer together as a community, and provide our students, parents and staff with a greater sense of compassion and understanding for people who are different from them – in other words, everyone. The week-long event provides a concentrated opportunity to focus on the importance of tolerance, showcasing its impact on schoolwork, friendships and everyday life. It also serves to reinforce Audubon School’s focus on differentiated instruction and inclusion that informs instruction throughout the year. "Unique Week" is an ideal manifestation of Audubon’s vision that all students graduating from Audubon will have a clear understanding of their own strengths and passions for learning, allowing each child to identify and pursue his or her individual goals. Throughout the week, students are exposed to whole-school and classroom-based activities that reinforce a message of tolerance and appreciation for differences. Teachers conduct character education lessons that focus specifically on inclusion and also receive professional development to enhance their instruction. Parents are offered varied opportunities to be involved as well. The entire school community embraces and looks forward to Unique Week because it allows everyone to shine.
