ACES Collaborates with Aventura Theater to Cultivate Students' Social, Emotional and Academic Growth
ACES' cross-curricular theater program cultivates character as it brings to life the importance of being socially responsible. Students prepare for a variety of programs and performances through hands-on learning activities, class discussions, projects, technology based applications, and writing assignments. Students then have an opportunity to attend and participate in theater productions. ACES' collaboration with the AACC (a new 325 seat state of the art facility sponsored by the City of Aventura) unites students, families, and the Aventura community by providing a platform for students to experience the school’s “12 Core Values.” The AACC holds a wide assortment of school events, programs, and activities. Students enthusiastically learn new lessons, celebrate new cultures, and come to understand diversity through theater. Whether they are watching a performance or participating on stage, students learn social skills such as team work, tolerance, responsibility, cooperation, respect, and commitment. Through focused learning activities, participants in the theater program gain knowledge, insights, and confidence as they develop a deep appreciation for the arts and for each other. This in turn fosters a culture of curiosity, understanding, and acceptance.
