"Wii Commend You"
The "Wii Commend You" incentive program rewards students for making good decisions and reinforces the importance of exercise. Each day, different groups of students are chosen to participate during each of our three lunch periods. Students are allotted time during their lunch period to play the Wii gaming system with peers. Students are chosen for making good academic and/or social decisions. Students have been chosen based on improved attendance, 100% effort in their classes, and working out conflicts. The program teaches our students the importance of always trying hard and of getting along with others. Also, the program allows for students who probably would not otherwise interact together to meet each other and form new friendships. Students also learn that daily exercise should be an important component to their day. The games we have available for the students to play all involve moving, dancing, and jumping! Students are learning the importance of teamwork and compromise when choosing the games to be played each day. This reinforces their conflict resolution skills as well.
