Beaming Beacons of Good Character
Doby’s Mill Elementary emphasizes the Beaming Beacons of Good Character program. This program infuses twenty different character traits during the school year that are taught on the school’s morning WAVE school television show and in the classrooms. These character traits are included in newsletters, calendars, the classroom, the cafeteria, on the school’s website, on painted ceiling tiles, and are posted on school buses. We also broadcast short stories on character education building to the entire school and the fifth grade Puppet Club performs skits that illustrate monthly character traits. Students who exhibit positive character traits are recognized through special awards and at the monthly Beaming Beacons Breakfast. Clearly, character education is an integral part of academics, social growth, and achievement for all of our students at Doby’s Mill Elementary.
