Colors of Character Mural Initiative
Colors of Character Mural Initiative gives students at El Dorado Elementary School the opportunity to participate in the creation of a community mural. Collaborative mural creation brings students and community members together with trained artists and exposes them to culture and the principles of teamwork while beautifying the community. While murals are typically created by a select group of skilled artists, Colors of Character Mural Initiative projects are worked on by hundreds of partners from unique backgrounds over the course of several months to two years. This results in a mural that serves as a meaningful legacy to both the community and the volunteers. For economically disadvantaged students whose opportunities are limited by lack of transportation or costs associated with many recreational activities, Colors of Character Mural Initiative broadens horizons while instilling a greater sense of self-worth and citizenship.
