Peace Pentagons
Students write statements about what they will do to promote world peace upon pentagons. These pentagons (five sided shapes) are glued together to form a Pentaflake (during winter) or Pentaflowers (during spring). Students take their pentagons and carry them on a Peace Promenade (parade around our campus). These Pentaflakes/flowers are hung in the window of our cafeteria so everyone (students, parents, visitors) can read about how we plan to promote peace in the world. Kindergarteners extend this project even farther by making “Radiant crowns” ( ex. Statue of Liberty crown) that has a 7 rays, one for each continent in the world which they wear during the Peace Promenade during Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebrations.
